The paintings on this page were all created on a single layer. They have a "painterly" appearance because the only modifications I make are to smudge and blend the very edge of each object and repaint the unavoidable unaesthetic shadow puddle. Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings must be seen "in person" because generally her brush strokes and canvas texture are not visible. Their surface is smooth, like enamel. While it's comparitively easy to get a sharp, realistic "photo" capture- pastel-like painterly effects involve arranging and focusing the objects in a manner that results in soft edges.
